Ladakh, 2 juillet : Une grande réception était organisée aujourd'hui par les moines bouddhistes du monastère d'Hémis au Ladakh afin d'accueillir les pélerins du Pad Yatra historique partis de Manali en Himachal Pradesh il y a un mois.
Le voyage avait pour but d'aider les populations de l'Himalaya à travers des projets et initiatives humanitaires dans les domaines de l'éducation, la santé, la préservation du patrimoine et l'environnement.
A travers ce long périple, le 12ème Gyalwang Drukpa a fait prendre conscience aux populations concernées de l'importance de l'environnement, de la santé et de l'éducation moderne.
"Sa Sainteté nous a rendu attentifs aux effets néfastes du polythène. Et en même temps, ils nous a aussi enseigné l'importance de l'éducation moderne ," raconta Tshering Norbu, un jeune écolier bouddhiste.
Le groupe a traversé cinq cols Himalayens, dont les plus élevés, Shikunla et Singgela, culminent tous les deux à une altitude de 5,200 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer.
Sur son chemin, le groupe a visité aussi les sites sacrés de Chakrasamvara, Avalokiteshvara, Guru Padmasambhava et un des sites du grand maître Drukpa, Naropa. (ANI)

1000 personnes, lamas titétains de haut rang, moines, nonnes et disciples de tous les continents accompagnent Sa Sainteté le XIIème Gyalwang Drukpa lors de ce pélerinage à pied hors du commun sur les lieux sacrés de l'Himalaya.
Ce Pad Yatra, unique à plus d'un titre, emmène les pélerins sur les pas des êtres éveillés sur un périple de 400 km allant de l'Himachal Pradesh au Ladakh. Il a aussi pour but de sensibiliser les habitants de ces contrées à protéger leur environnement et de servir quatre causes humanitaires : Education, Santé, Environnement et Héritage culturel.

HIS HOLINESS THE GYALWANG DRUKPA
We took the precious opportunity to speak with His Holiness for a short few minutes, as many people have emailed us (DPPL News Center) requesting us to continue updating the latest information about His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa, Rinpoches, monks, nuns and the pilgrims.
Your Holiness, we heard that the last few days have been a very challenging experience for everyone, especially to cross the 5000m Shingo La. Now that the phone connection is a little clearer, would you be so kind to share with us the arduous journey that you all went through for the past two days?
Actually, the local people were very shocked that we were crossing Shingo La during this time of the year. Nobody could even think of it and it was "mission impossible". The weather was moody and was actually quite warm, which was not good for us to walk, because the snow was melting. If the weather was blue and cold, then the trek would be icy and it would be easier for us to walk. For us, human beings, it was less difficult than the poor mules, those animals who were helping us to carry our food supplies and tents.

A MESSAGE FROM KARGYAK
The Pilgrims Crossed Shingo La
On 30th May, we were misinformed that His Holiness and the pilgrims had crossed Shingo-La (5,090m) safely. The actual situation is that they have just successfully crossed Shingo-La a few hours ago today, i.e. 1st June, we have heard it very vaguely in very bad reception from one of the pilgrims who called us from Kargyak using a satellite device.
We were told that it was extremely difficult and challenging for the pilgrims (close to a thousand of them) to cross Shingo-La in the thick snow. The mules and horses, about 300 of them, carrying the supplies, could not move in the snow. This resulted in 2 days' delay.
